Frequently Asked Questions About Martial Arts

Will martial arts make my child violent? 

No. Martial arts are used for self employed and as a last resort. The core fundamentals of Aamerican Colleges of Jiu-Jitsu and Karate is solving problems by peaceful resolution and using the self-confidence to never rely on violent behavior. 

My child is not very athletic. Can they still benefit from martial arts? 

Certainly. We teach them skills which will aid with their coordination, flexibility and strength. We make certain that the actions we assign are appropriate for the child's athletic degree. 

Will my child be injured if they practice martial arts? 

There is a chance of bodily injury with any form of exercise. We take very special care to oversee all exercises to see that the pupils are doing them correctly. Sparring is only performed at higher degrees by those who wish to participate and we feel possess the abilities to gallop in a secure way. 

How fit do I have to be to take an adult martial arts class? 

We have people of just about all levels of fitness attend our courses. Your level of fitness isn't so important a variable because we operate on improving your level, wherever you are in terms of physical fitness.  

I have a past injury or medical condition. Can I still train in martial arts? 

You'll need to talk to your physician about the dangers you may incur by performing rigorous exercise. They will know best about what your body can safely handle.

What should I wear for my first class? 

Bring a shirt and pants which are comfortable and easy to move in.
